Selection Criteria for Student Participant in ACS-ENVR/SETAC Program

 

This award will be given to a single student and will not exceed $1000 per year.  The award will be advertised on the ACS-ENVR website before and during the abstract submission interval for the Spring ACS National Meeting.  Due to time constraints in 2009, the advertisements will include the abstract submission interval for the Fall meeting.

 

Eligibility

Student applicants must:

Be a member of the ACS ENVR Division.

Submit an abstract for the appropriate National Meeting by the deadline.

Agree to prepare an abstract and attend the Annual SETAC meeting that will occur in Nov of the award year.

 

To receive the award, the successful applicant must:

Present their research at the appropriate ACS National Meeting

Prepare an abstract and attend the Annual SETAC meeting that will occur in Nov of the award year.

Provide a high quality abstract and presentation in the SETAC technical program.  There is a high likelihood that students will be placed in a high profile student awards symposium. 

Meet with Student representatives of SETAC during the conference

Submit to the ACS-ENVR Awards Committee a brief written report of activities undertaken during the exchange and benefits of the exchange.

 

Review of Applicants

Each student applicant will be reviewed by the Awards Committee. The 2009 award will be based on the quality of Abstracts submitted for the 238th ACS National Meeting in Washington DC.

Thereafter, the award will be based on the quality of the submitted abstract, as determined by the awards committee, and the quality of the presentation, as judged by the Merit Awards committee, for the Spring National Meeting.

The Awardee and first alternate will be notified in writing by the Awards Committee within 30 days of the ACS National Meeting conclusion.
