Book Reviews and Review Articles

Are you interested in:

  • reviewing environmental chemistry books?

  • writing review articles highlighting current issues in environmental chemistry?

The ACS Division of Environmental Chemistry is working on expanding the role of our website and newsletter to include scholarly discussions of pertinent topics in environmental chemistry as well as reviews of environmental chemistry books and texts.  The objective is to provide our members with timely information on new books and current issues in environmental chemistry.  The reviews will be posted on our website (www.envirofacs.org), as well as published in the semiannual newsletter that is distributed to approximately 5300 members.  Oxford University Press will provide a free review copy of a book selected to be reviewed by a divisional member.

Scholarly discussions of pertinent topics in environmental chemistry:
Review articles should be approximately 1000 words in length and can include a few figures, tables, and diagrams. You may organize the review article in the manner that best suits your presentation, however please make certain that the environmental topic or research issue is clearly stated along with clear and definitive conclusions. Use ES&T format for references.  Topics can cover any area of environmental chemistry.  Please include your CV with your submission.

Book reviews: Book reviews should be no more than 1000 words in length.  After selecting a book from the Oxford University Press web site, please email me with the title, ISBN, and author, so I can request Oxford editors to send you a review copy.  Please include your CV with your request.

We are working on providing a mechanism at our website for members to post feedback about review article topics or book reviews so to engage the environmental chemistry community in a discussion.

I look forward hearing from you!
